Two research studies led by Dr. Rodrigo España were recognised as Best Scientific Communications in the fields of Andrology and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) during the congress held in Granada.
From 14 to 16 October 2026, Granada hosted the 38th Congress of the Andalusian Urology Association (AAU), one of the most important scientific meetings for urology specialists in Andalusia.
During this year’s congress, Dr. Rodrigo España, Director of Andrología Málaga, made a significant scientific contribution by leading two research studies that received the Best Communication Award in their respective categories.
This double recognition highlights his dedication to medical research and his commitment to advancing urology and men’s sexual health.
Two Award-Winning Studies in Andrology and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
The award-winning studies focus on two key areas of urological practice: the relationship between cardiovascular health and erectile function, and the evaluation of outcomes following prostate surgery.
Cardiovascular Risk and Erectile Function
The first award-winning study, presented in the Andrology category, explored the relationship between cardiovascular risk and erectile function.
This research highlights the importance of approaching men’s sexual health from a comprehensive perspective, considering the close connection between erectile function and cardiovascular health.
The study contributes to a better understanding of this association and reinforces the importance of thorough clinical assessment in patients experiencing erectile dysfunction.
PENTAFECTA Parameters in Prostate Enucleation
The second study, recognised in the Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) category, focused on the use of PENTAFECTA parameters to assess outcomes following prostate enucleation.
This research examines surgical outcomes through different clinical indicators, aiming to provide a more comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness and safety of these procedures.
The study contributes to ongoing efforts to optimise surgical treatment outcomes for benign prostatic hyperplasia and improve the quality of patient care.
Recognition of a Commitment to Research and Medical Excellence
Receiving these two awards represents an important recognition of the scientific work led by Dr. Rodrigo España and his commitment to advancing research in urology and andrology.
