Dr. Rodrigo España Navarro (MD, FEBU), Medical Director of Andrología Málaga, recently participated as a proctor in a Thulium laser prostate enucleation (ThuLEP) surgical workshop held at HLA Inmaculada Hospital in Granada, alongside Dr. Enrique Cardozo Rodríguez and Dr. Francisco Javier Vicente Prados.
During the session, four surgical procedures were performed on patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a common condition in men over 50 that causes prostate enlargement and bothersome urinary symptoms. The surgeries were carried out using the Thulium laser (ThuLEP), one of the most advanced techniques currently available for the surgical treatment of BPH.
The Thulium laser prostate enucleation procedure allows the obstructive prostate tissue to be removed with high precision and minimal bleeding, resulting in faster recovery, shorter hospital stays, and improved functional outcomes compared to traditional techniques. During the workshop, the Hawk morcellator and the Coloplast Drive system were also used, tools that optimize the efficiency and safety of the procedure.
Dr. España’s participation as a proctor reflects his extensive experience in laser prostate surgery and his commitment to training other specialists in the use of advanced technologies. These workshops enable knowledge sharing, improvement of the learning curve, and the maintenance of the highest standards of quality in urological practice.
At Andrología Málaga and Taus Clinics, we reaffirm our commitment to clinical excellence, technological innovation, and professional collaboration. We firmly believe that teamwork and continuous training are essential to continue providing our patients with the safest and most effective treatments.
We extend our gratitude to the medical team at HLA Inmaculada Hospital for their trust and for giving us the opportunity to participate in such a high-level scientific and technical workshop.
