Research on metastatic prostate cancer treatment optimization
One of the abstracts presented by Dr. España focused on optimizing treatment strategies for advanced prostate cancer.
The study was presented within the session:
“Advancing prognostics and therapeutics: From biomarkers to novel treatments in metastatic prostate cancer.”
The research explores the optimal timing of Docetaxel chemotherapy after treatment with androgen receptor pathway inhibitors, as well as the development and validation of a novel prognostic model for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
This type of research aims to improve clinical decision-making and treatment personalization, helping physicians select the most appropriate therapeutic strategy for each patient.
Study on male lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS)
The second abstract presented by Dr. España focused on the clinical applicability of the LURN SI-10 questionnaire in Spanish men with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).
Lower urinary tract symptoms are very common in men and may include:
- Difficulty starting urination
- Weak urinary stream
- Feeling of incomplete bladder emptying
- Increased urinary frequency
- Nocturia (waking at night to urinate)
These symptoms are frequently associated with conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and other urinary disorders.
The study aims to improve symptom assessment and patient profiling, allowing clinicians to better understand patient priorities and tailor treatment strategies accordingly.
